On 16th September, 2024 the Inauguration and Sod-Cutting for the DRIP(District Road Improvement Programme) initiative ceremony was held at the Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly.
In attendance were the Member of Parliament(Hon Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi), MCE(Hon Robert Kwakye), MCD(Mr. Francis Asokwa Sarpong), Traditional leaders, clergy and staff.
The honourable MP, Hon Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi introduced a speech during the occasion. He said the DRIP is a flagship initiative of the Government aimed at enhancing road networks in rural areas and location where raw materials are sourced.
He mentioned that Ghana is embarking on a historic journey to transform its road infrastructure management and improvement with the official launch of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP-2024). This initiative by the Government of Ghana is set to empower Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with the tools and resources needed to enhance road networks within the municipality.
A sod cutting was then made by the Chief and dignitaries present to officially hand over the DRIP equipment to the Assembly to be used for its intended purpose of transforming its road infrastructure management and improvement. The DRIP equipment launched was made of water tankers, backhoes, motor graders, rollers, tipper trucks, bulldozers and concrete mixers.
