REPORT ON MUNICIPAL SECURITY COUNCIL (MUSEC) ENGAGEMENT WITH DWEASE COMMUNITY ON CATTLE MENACE HELD ON THURSDAY 13TH MARCH, 2025 AT DWEASE AHENFIE IN THE ASANTE AKIM CENTRAL MUNICIPALITY INTRODUCTION

The Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly, the Divisional Police Command and the District Police Command had received complaint from both Community Members from Dwease and Dweasehene (Nana Owusu Bannahene II) over destruction of farms and properties including threats to life by herdsmen and their cattle. The Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) in a meeting held on Friday 7th February, 2025 resolved to meet with the Cattle Owners and the Dwease Community including the Chief to address the cattle menace.

The Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) on Monday 3rd March, 2025 in a meeting invited the Owners of Cattle Groups at the Dwease Area to discuss and address the complaints received. The meeting issued some directives to the cattle owners to help address the complaints received on the cattle menace.

The directives were:

1. The Cattle Owners to submit data on the number of cattle being reared in the municipality particularly on the Dwease Stool Land within two (2) weeks.

2. The Cattle Owners to submit to the Assembly plans to cater for their cattle to prevent further and future farm destructions.

3. The Cattle Owners to meet with Dwasehene to discuss issues raised on the cattle menace further, and find alternative means of keeping the cattle from destroying farms and properties.
